A French gilt-bronze and enamel vanity set Print Late 19th/early 20th century, all but the comb marked ''France'', a matched set of blue guilloche enamel-inset gilt bronze vanity items, five with inset miniature female portraits under glass, four of the portraits signed ''Vely'' after Anatole Vely (1838-1882 French), comprising: a hand mirror (12.375'' H x 4.5'' W x .5'' D), a hair brush (9.5'' H x 2.75'' W x 1.5'' D), a clothing brush (7.5'' H x 2'' W x 1.5'' D), a circular hinged-lid box with mirrored lid interior (3'' H x 3.75'' W x 4'' D), a small circular box with mirrored lid interior (1.75'' H x 2.5'' Dia.), a comb (7.75'' H x 1.5'' W x .25'' D), a nail buffer and tray (1.625'' H x 6.125'' W x 1.625'' D), a nail file (7.75'' H x .75'' W x .375'' D) and a shoe horn (8.5'' H x 1.5'' W x .325'' D), 9 pieces, est: $1200/1800 *Price Realized: $3,382.50 Condition: Overall good condition, with general rubbed wear and darkening to gilt bronze commensurate with age. Each with wear, scattered cracks and spots of darkening to guilloche enamel, especially to buffer. The Shoe horn and comb with glue over guilloche enamel insert to handle. Comb with insert somewhat loose from gilt bronze mount. Buffer tray and boxes with replaced liners. Hand mirror with scratches commensurate with age and use. Scattered minor spots of rust to ends of shoehorn and nail file. Scattered spots of verdigris to buffer.
