A FRENCH SEVEN-PIECE SILVER TEA AND COFFEE SERVICE WITH TRAY MARK OF CARDHEILAC, PARIS, LATE 19TH CENTURY In Louis XVI style, comprising a hot water urn, coffee pot, teapot, hot water jug, cream jug, sugar bowl and cover, and waste bowl; the vertically fluted bodies with bold beaded borders, chased with drapery swags and (with the exception of the hot water jug and the waste bowl) bands of paterae and raised on four scroll feet, the wooden scroll handles carved with entwined serpent, with acanthus bud finials; the oval tray en suite , the bold beaded border with classical heads at intervals, with two serpent-entwined handles, the field engraved with a band of paterae enclosing a cypher, fully marked, each piece also stamped CARDHEILAC PARIS, the burner Pinder Brothers, Sheffield The hot water urn 19 in. (48.2 cm.) high, the tray 30½ in. (76.2 cm.) long over handles; 423 oz. (13,156 gr.) gross weight (8)
