A George II brass-mounted ebonised striking eight day table clock with alarm Bearing signature Daniel Quare and Stephen Horseman, London. Second quarter 18th Century The inverted bell top with later applied brass mount and surmounted by later brass handle, later brass frets to the side panels, the 6 in. wide brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels, alarm winding hole to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with diamond half hour markers, later(?) silvered alarm setting disc, date square and later mock pendulum aperture to the matted centre, later silvered roundel to the arch bearing signature Dan Quare/S Horseman/London , blued steel hands, the movement with later brass securing brackets, five ring-turned pillars, twin gut fusees, restored verge escapement and later(?) alarm work, rack strike with restored trip repeat on replaced bell, with basket of fruit and scroll foliate engraving to the back plate; case key, later brass case mounts and four later finials (not illustrated) 17 in. (43 cm.) high, handle down
