A GEORGE II RED AND GILT-JAPANNED QUARTER-CHIMING BRACKET CLOCK By John Dury, London The dial signed 'John Dury London' on an arched plaque below strike silent ring, Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, matted centre with calendar aperture, foliate spandrels, the five pillar triple fusee (with lines) movement with verge escapement, chiming on eight bells and hour strike on a further bell, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, the case decorated overall with Chinoiserie figures with bell top and fine case finials, pierced giltwood soundfrets, trailing floral female caryatids to the four angles, on a waved apron with bracket feet, minor losses to decoration 25½ in. (62 cm.) high
