A GEORGE III EBONISED STRIKING BRACKET CLOCK Robert Best, London the gilt-brass mounted case with triple-pad to the arched top with handle, fish-scale frets to the sides and on out-swept fielded bracket feet, the dial signed Robt. Best London on the white enamel Roman and Arabic chapter disc with pierced blued hands, subsidiary enamel chapter discs in the arch for calendar, regulation and strike/silent, the five pillar movement with shouldered plates, twin chain fusees, strike on bell, the verge escapement with steel suspended pendulum with cam regulation mounted atop the plates, foliate engraved pendulum holdfast to the backplate well engraved with flowers and scrolling foliage around a central basket of flowers mounted on a pedestal, similarly engraved movement securing brackets to the case 16in. (40.5cm.) high
