A George III Irish silver four-piece tea and coffee-service Mark of Edward Power, Dublin, the teapot and cream-jug 1817, the coffee-pot and sugar-bowl 1818 Comprising coffee-pot, teapot, cream-jug and sugar-bowl, each waisted bombé form, the coffee-pot on circular foot, the other pieces each on four ball-and-claw feet with bearded male grotesque mask terminals, each piece elaborately repoussé and chased with floral and foliate scrolls, shells and fishscales on a textured ground, the coffee-pot also with grapevines, each scroll handle formed as a female caryatid, the coffee-pot and teapot each with hinged slightly domed cover with detachable floral finial, and with cockerel's mask spout with grotesque mask below, the cream-jug spout also with grotesque mask, each piece engraved twice with a crest, marked on bases, covers and one finial , in a fitted two-handled wooden metal-bound chest, the cover with brass plaque engraved ' Major Poole ' 9in. (23cm.) high gross 98oz. (3,053gr.) The crest is that of Barry as borne by Lord Barrymore (4)
