Marked underneath with makers mark, double cusped duty mark, leopards head and lion passant. Length – 15.6 cm / 6.1 inches Weight – 180 grams / 5.79 ozt A toast rack is recorded in the list of items sent for assay by this partnership in Margaret Gill, Director of Newcastle Goldsmiths (1980). It is possible as other items are recorded in plural that this was only toast rack sent for assay by this firm. An example circa 1801 by Anne Robertson is known but toast racks are generally a rare item for Newcastle.
