(Silver & Objects of Vertu, 25th March 2020) A George III sterling silver sugar basket, London 1787 by George Smith II A George III sterling silver sugar basket, London 1787 by George Smith II Of navette form upon an oval pedestal foot with beaded rims, and reeded swing handle. The body bright cut engraved decoration of swags below decorative bands, one side engraved with a coat of arms and the obverse with a crest of a bulls head erased collared Az charged with three bezants, each reserved in a oval cartouche with crossed laurel below. The foot with engraved decorative bands. Together with a George III wine funnel London 1789 by John Lambe, conventional circular form with beaded edges and drill pierced filter. Engraved with a crest of a lion sejant supporting a scaling ladder. Each fully and part-marked. (2) Basket length – 13.4 cm / 5.25 inches Total weight – 276 grams / 8.87 ozt The coat of arms and crest on the basket are for Tourney The crest on the wine funnel is for Keeling
