FROM 1837), MARKED, HANAU, CIRCA 1850/1860, WITH THE HANAU TOWN MARK AND 14-CARAT GOLD MARK, THE FLANGE ENGRAVED WITH INVENTORY NO. 2637 Cartouche-shaped box, the lid centred by a slightly raised plaque of lemon form enamelled in translucent green on engine-turned bright-cut ground and applied with gold scrolling Old English initial 'L' surmounted by a Royal crown, within opaque champlevé enamelled scroll border, surrounded by chased foliate motifs and scalloped frame, the lobed baluster sides engraved with strapwork c-scrolls and flowers, the base centred with a reserve engraved with flowers surrounded by feathered paisley sprays and strapwork scrolls 2 7/8 in.
