EARLY 17TH CENTURY
A German engraved gilt-copper and gilt-brass striking crucifix clock Early 17th Century The foliate engraved spreading base resting on an iron base plate etched with strapwork and raised on three brass feet, with engraved balustraded gallery housing the bell, the Crucifix resting on a foliate engraved platform mounted with two pomegranates in place of the original figures, the revolving orb above with Arabic silver chapter ring, the time indicated via a pointing finger, the base hinged and opening to a short duration movement with engraved top plate and four square section pillars, open spring for the going train, verge escapement with replaced balance and stackfreed, the strike train with chevron engraved fixed barrel, recessed steel countwheel with internal teeth and Arabic calibrations and with pointing finger indication, striking on the bell below 26 cm. high
