A GERMAN STONE-SET AND ENAMELLED GOLD PRESENTATION SNUFF-BOX by Charles Colins Sons, marked, Hanau, circa 1860, the miniature by Alois Gustav Rockstuhl (1798-1877), signed and dated on the backing paper March 1860 Cartouche-shaped box with baluster sides, engraved all over with c-scrolls and foliage, the cover, scrolling foliate thumbpiece and front side furthermore enamelled with blue scrolls, the cover centred with a circular portrait miniature of King Christian IX of Denmark wearing uniform and the sash of the Royal Danish Order of the Elephant and the cross of the Royal Danish Order of the Dannebrog and numerous other orders, within a glass-stone border flanked by six larger silver-mounted glass-stones 3½ in. (88 mm.) wide
