A GOLD-DAMASCENED WATERED-STEEL SPLIT DAGGER ( KARD ) ZAND OR QAJAR IRAN, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY Of typical form, the gold-damascened decoration consisting of a floral knotwork in the form of a palmette on either side of the blade, rising from a thin foliate garland at the ricasso, the horn hilt left plain, with pierced tang button, the kard splitting along its length to form two daggers and secured in position by two steel mortises 13 ¾in. (35cm.) long
