A GOTO SCHOOL TSUBA EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1775), ATTESTED TO GOTO ENJO BY GOTO HOJO The oval copper plate has a nanako surface and is decorated with inlaid gold, copper and shakudo butterflies. The face has five and the reverse three. The large apertures on either side of the central area and the rim are lined in shakudo --height 7.3cm., width 6.8cm., thickness 4.5mm. Double wood storage boxes. Inner box with hakogaki by Sato Kanzan, dated autumn, 1972. Accompanied by a Tokubetsu kicho ninteisho , no. 149, dated April 15th, 1971, issued by the N.B.T.H.K.
