Thomas Pateman was born in Lewes, Sussex, on 3 November 1878 and attested for the 4th Hussars, serving with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 15 August 1914. For his services during the Great War he was advanced Warrant Officer Class 1, was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 4 January 1917), and was awarded the Military Medal. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 1 January 1917, and subsequently served as Garrison Sergeant Major at Sheerness. He was discharged on 3 October 1921. Sold with copied War Diary extracts and other research.
