A GROUP OF FOURTEEN CUNEIFORM CLAY TABLETS 3RD-2ND MILLENNIUM B.C. Comprising a Sumerian, Ur III or Early Babylonian 4 column administrative text, with a list of objects and their prices, damaged and reverse worn, 5¼ x 2½ in. (13.3 x 6.3 cm.); an Old Babylonian tablet, 16 lines of legal text concerning the sale of a field with many witnesses, some seal impressions, 1 3/8 x 2 in. (3.6 x 5 cm.); another Old Babylonian tablet, 11 lines of text concerning measurements and bricks, 1¾ x 2 in. (4.3 x 5 cm.), both circa 1700 B.C.; another Old Babylonian legal tablet with ¾ of original envelope, same inscription on tablet and envelope, envelope with seal impressions and 26 lines of text, 2 1/8 x 3 1/8 in. (5.3 x 7.8 cm.); another Old Babylonian tablet with most of envelope remaining, 19 lines of a legal document confirming a sale, with witnesses' seals on tablet, 1 7/8 x 3 in. (4.8 x 7.4 cm.), both circa 1750 B.C.; another Old Babylonian tablet, 27 lines of text concerning the selling of a plot of land, with the parties taking an oath by the King, witness seals on tablet, dating to the reign of Iter-Pisha, 1833-1831 B.C., 1½ x 2¾ in. (4 x 6.9 cm.); a Sumerian Ur III tablet with legal text in large script, 24 lines remaining with a large list of names, top edge and bottom right hand corner missing, 1 7/8 x 3 1/8 in. (4.6 x 7.8 cm.); another Ur III tablet recording the birth of young lifestock, 17 lines of text, circa 2000 B.C., 1 5/8 x 2¼ in. (4.2 x 5.9 cm.); another Ur III administrative tablet, 30 lines of text concerning workmen for agricultural purposes, Year 2, reign of Ibbi-Sin, 2028-2004 B.C., 1¾ x 3 1/8 in. (4.4 x 8 cm.); another Ur III administrative tablet, 18 lines of text listing people's names, repaired, Year 3, reign of Ibbi-Sin, 2028-2004 B.C., with later additional wedges, 1 5/8 x 2 1/8 in. (4.3 x 5.3 cm.); another Ur III tablet, 8 lines of text, a receipt for barley from Lagash, Year 9, reign of Shu-Sin, 2037-2029 B.C., 1½ x 1¾ in.
