A GROUP OF MAINLY NORTH-WEST PERSIAN BRONZE AXE AND MACE HEADS LATE 3RD MILLENNIUM B.C. AND LATER Including a mace head with cylindrical shaft and vertically ribbed swelling on the upper body, 6 7/8 in. (17.5 cm.) high; a bronze pick-axe, the shaft with lower cut-away socket and ridged ends, three butt-spikes, 6 in. (15.2 cm.) long; a copper axe head with tall shaft and rectangular blade, 4 5/8 in. (11.7 cm.) long; four other bronze axe heads, all with broadening blades, 6 in. (15.2 cm.) long max., all circa late 3rd millennium B.C.; a 'duck-bill' bronze axe with crescentic blade pierced with twin oval sections opening onto the shaft hole, 3 3/8 in. (8.5 cm.) long; a bronze adze-axe with blades set at right angles, the shaft decorated with concentric circles and chevron ridges, 9 in. (23 cm.) long; a bronze axe head with ribbed shaft and four conically tipped butt-spikes, with downward curving blade, 7¾ in. (19.2 cm.) long; and a mace head with stylized lobed flowerhead at upper end of shaft, 2¾ in. (7 cm.) high, all 2nd millennium B.C. (16)
