Beschreibung:

The first a bodhisattva, with one hand holding a lotus and the other extended down in the wish-granting mudra, standing on a lotus blossom pedestal set atop a recumbent ox, possibly indicating its membership in a set of twelve calendrical figures, and backed by a flaming mandorla, with tinted details, signed to the base Soshin; the second of a laughing fisherman, his bamboo rod held aloft as he gazes down at the live fish grasped in his left hand, seated on a folded straw mat with a wicker creel to one side and a bamboo container at his feet, details heightened by stain, the base signed to an inlaid red lacquer cartouche Yoshimitsu (small loss to the rod's tip); the third a small carving of a samurai possibly partaking in a festival dance, his right hand holding a fan and a folded paper pendant used in Shinto rituals hanging from the back of his topknot, standing on a tatami-mat base, with mother of pearl inlay and tinted details, signature illegible. 7 1/8in (18cm) height of first figure
