H. 126 x W. 50 cm (painting) H. 194 x W. 63 cm (scroll) Provenance: Collection Peter Poldervaart, Amsterdam Note: Born in Omi province, Kishi Chikudo was a Japanese-style painter who first learnt paintings from Kano Eigaku, then Kishi Renzan from whom he took his name. He was well-known for painting landscape and animals, particularly excelling at tigers. In 1896 he was appointed to the art committee of the Imperial Household.
