A large Chinese bronze octagonal censer, 19th century
A large Chinese bronze octagonal censer, 19th century with deep sides rising to the short neck and galleried rim, applied with a pair of rectangular handles with ruyi-head terminals, supported on four elephantine feet emerging from lion masks, the sides decorated with panels enclosing dragons amidst waves alternating with phoenix reserved on a diaper ground below the rim with a key-fret border -- 12¾in. (32.3cm.) wide.
