The barrel has a triple nosepiece and rack and pinion focusing. It is raised on a shaped oxidised-brass limb with a micrometer adjustment screw. The fully mechanical stage has a circumference scale with vernier, substage condensor mount and plano-concave mirror. The limb tilts on raised tripod legs with a clamp and brass feet. There is no eyepiece; a Zeiss B objective; and a stray drawer with three preparations. The mahogany case is from a different instrument.
