A Louis XV Gilt Bronze Mounted Horn Veneered Bracket Clock francois gilbert, paris, 18th century having a segmented circular enameled dial with Roman numeral hours and Arabic numeral minutes, the case formed with a seated Chinese man and mounted with foliate scrolls throughout, the back of the case stamped GOYER JME, together with a similarly decorated bracket having a bust of a Chinese man at the front. Height of clock 24 1/2 inches. Estimate $ 6,000-8,000 Stable condition overall. Tortoise shell with cracks, lifting, small losses, discolorations throughout. Bronze with slightly dirty patina. Glass replaced. Some mounts loose. Case stamped "GOYER JME" on back. Clock cannot be tested for winding because its key is not present and we do not have a crank or key big enough to accommodate it.
