A LOUIS XV VARI-COLOUR GOLD SNUFF-BOX BY CHARLES LE BASTIER (FL. 1754-1783), MARKED, PARIS, 1759/1760, WITH THE CHARGE MARK OF ELOY BRICHARD 1756-1762 AND THE DECHARGE MARK FOR EXPORT 1733-1775, the flange struck with inventory number 740 and further engraved no 6 rectangular box, the cover, sides and base set with engine-turned triangular-shaped panels of alternating vertical and horizontal reeding each centred with chased vari-colour gold hunting scenes, with hounds, deer and wildfowl amongst foliate landscapes within diamond-shaped polished gold frames, with chased and gadrooned outer borders 2? in.
