A MAGNIFICENT LARGE IMPERIAL CLOISONNE ENAMEL TIERED CENSER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
A MAGNIFICENT LARGE IMPERIAL CLOISONNE ENAMEL TIERED CENSER QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795) The brazier is comprised of four octagonal sections: the lowest being the basin decorated on each face with lotus and one of the Eight Daoist Emblems below a wide rim finely adorned with a continuous rocky garden of various blossoming flowers including lotus, peony, magnolia and chrysanthemum, all raised on four gilt-bronze lion-mask cabriole legs. The basin is surmounted by two tiers, the bottom section pierced with rectangular gilt-bronze panels of luxuriant phoenix surrounded by meandering keyfret, the upper section pierced with panels of the Eight Buddhist Emblems surrounded by chrysanthemum scrolls. The domed cover has gilt ruyi -shaped panels enclosing blossoming lotus against a turquoise ground and topped with a pierced finial with Shou characters. 33 3/4 in. (85.8 cm.) high
