A MEISSEN FIGURE OF HARLEQUIN TEASING A DOG modelled by J.J. Kändler , in yellow-edged green hat with a red rosette, puce tunic with scattered playing-cards, white ruff to cuffs to shirt, his trousers with one yellow and one blue leg and with red shoes, playing a cornet and pulling the tail of a howling dog trapped beneath his leg, on an oval mound base applied with flowers and leaves (broken from base and repaired through his right thigh, restoration to brim of hat, back of his left leg, end of cornet, dog's legs and muzzle, slight flaking to hat and enamels on his left leg, minor chips to flowers and leaves and drilled through base), circa 1740, the enamelling later, on a later ormolu mount base chased with scrolls and with painted metal branches and leaves mounted with flowers and an ormolu mounted clock dial the figure 16.5cm. high the mount 34.5cm. high
