A MONUMENTAL BERLIN (K.P.M.) ORMOLU-MOUNTED BLUE-GROUND TOPOGRAPHICAL MÜNCHNER VASE CIRCA 1845, BLACK ENAMEL EF MARK AND INDISTINCT IRON-RED NO. 1 TO UNDERSIDE OF NECK Finely painted with views of the old Berlin Opera House burning and the new Berlin Opera House within rectangular gilt cartouches, the blue-ground sides richly gilt with scrolling foliage and flowers centred by medallions with Imperial eagles below upright gilt handles, the detachable tapering gilt neck with radiating ciselé leaves and gilt palmettes below a blue-ground band reserved with green ivy leaves and a band of green leaves within gilt lozenges at the upper rim, resting on an ormolu stiff-leaf and gadrooned collar at the shoulder, the lower part with gilt stiff leaves on a spreading foot edged with a garland on an ormolu square plinth base (one handle partially a replacement, very minor minute scratching to enamels and gilding) 43 in. (99.2 cm.) high
