A MUGHAL JADE HILTED DAGGER ( KHANJAR ) NORTH INDIA, FIRST HALF 18TH CENTURY The slightly recurved double-edged watered steel blade with slight medial ridge on each side and reinforced panel at forte, the mutton fat-jade scrolled pistol hilt inlaid and inset with a trellis of golden feathery leaves enclosing foiled beryl and corundum flowerheads, a similar spray above and stylised cypress tree along the spine, the pink and metal thread brocade covered wooden sheath of boteh design, the gold locket worked in repoussé with floral motifs on a stippled ground, the pale mutton-fat jade chape with scrolling terminal inlaid and inset en suite with the hilt, chape repaired, one stone missing from hilt, fitted velvet-lined case Overall 16½in.
