The painting has traditionally been attributed to Thomas Pardoe based on a number of examples recorded with marks in Pardoe's distinctive script. However, it is possible that some of the work was done by Pardoe's son, William Henry See Welsh Ceramics in Context (2003), p.140, for a discussion of this group by Andrew Renton
