A ' NOBUIE REVIVAL' tsuba BY HATA NAOAKI, A FINE AND RARE EXAMPLE OF A HEIANJO BRASS INLAY tsuba , AND AN ECHIZEN KINAI tsuba Edo period (17th/19th century) The first of oval form tapering towards the top and thickening at the rim, hammered on the face with a design of a cherry tree in blossom and on the reverse with cherry blossoms, signed Hata Naoaki , 8cm.; the second, an unusual oval iron Heaianjo tsuba carved with two gourds and a leaf, one gourd inlaid with tessen [clematis] flowers (one missing) and vines, the other forms with inlays indicating dew (some missing), 8cm.; and an iron tsuba pierced with two shogi [chess] pieces and a gunbai [general's fan], signed Echizen ju Kinai saku , 7.2cm.
