Beschreibung:

A pair of ash and beechwood spindle-back chairs each with earred top-rail and three rows of spindles, above a straw seat and turned legs joined by multiple stretchers, Liverpool, early 19th century See Illustration This particular model of the eared spindle-back chair is uncommon due to there being three rows of spindles, more usually seen in the armchairs. Hearsay has it that these chairs originate in Liverpool. See B. Cotton The English Regional Chair , Woodbridge 1990, p.352 and p.353 (2)
