A PAIR OF GEORGE IV MAHOGANY LIBRARY ARMCHAIRS IN THE MANNER OF BANTING, FRANCE & CO, CIRCA 1825 The seat rails stamped 'II' and 'III' each 90cm high, 59cm wide, 61cm deep Banting, France & Co (1811-1925) were royal cabinet makers and held royal warrants from 1811 onwards, retaining the same premises at 27 St James's Street, London for nearly a century. The furniture supplied almost exclusively by Banting, France & Co, to the Earl of Bristol at Ickworth, Suffolk from 1817 shares the related characteristics of elaborately carved mahogany in the manner of these present chairs.
