A PAIR OF MEISSEN CIRCULAR SOUP-PLATES FROM THE SWAN SERVICE modelled for Count Brühl by J. J. Kändler assisted by J. F. Eberlein , the wells moulded in relief with two swans and a crane swimming among bulrushes and with a crane flying above, the shell-moulded grounds with spiralling ridges and furrows radiating from the centres, the borders painted with a Coat-of-Arms and with scattered indianische Blumen , within shaped gilt rims (old restoration to borders covering three rim chips, glaze rubbed in centres on moulded parts), blue crossed swords marks, incised Dreher's quartered circle and / to footrims, circa 1737 9½in. (24cm.) diam. (2)
