PERCUSSION COMBINED SHOTGUN AND RIFLE with browned twist sighted barrels signed in full at the breech, blued folding leaf-sights calibrated from 100 to 300 yards, engraved case-hardened breeches each with short platinum line and plug, gold-plated scroll engraved tang, signed scroll engraved gold-plated locks each with blued safety-catch in front of the hammer, highly figured walnut half-stock with cheek-piece, chequered grip and fore-end, gold-plated mounts including chequered butt-plate, trigger-guard with chequered spur, and hinged circular patch-box cover, all engraved en suite with the locks, engraved gold-plated trigger-plate and rear ramrod-pipe each with pineapple finial, vacant silver escutcheon, and much original gilding: in original lined and fitted oak case (two compartment lids missing) with accessories including Sykes leather-covered powder-flask, bullet mould for rifle No. 3711, and circular brass cap dispenser, the lid with trade label and circular brass escutcheon, by Charles Lancaster, 151 New Bond Street, London, London proof marks, No. 3722 for 1863 31in. barrels
