A rare and attractive Dutch gilt brass mounted mahogany musical table clock, Arent Vijgh Rotterdam, dated 1774 24-cm matted brass dial, engraved silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, foliate pierced blued hands, foliate silvered signature plaque signed Arent Vijgh Rotterdam 1774, subsidiaries for strike/silent and play/not play, apertures for date and moonphase in the arch, foliate pierced brass spandrels, similar signed and dated substantial three train fusee movement with verge escapement, rack Dutch half hour striking on alternating bells, self changing 15-cm cylinder musical mechanism playing one of six tunes with 21 hammers on 11 bells, mahogany veneered bell top case surmounted by a handle and four corner finials, break arch glazed front and back door with engraved brass frets and caraytid mounts on the angled corners, elaborate pierced side frets, moulded plinth raised on scroll feet height 61cm handle down
