A RARE BLUE AND WHITE SEATED FIGURE OF SHOULAO WANLI PERIOD (1573-1619) The god of Longevity, with his characteristic elongated bald cranium, is shown seated on a kneeling deer and holding a ruyi sceptre, all raised on a facetted rectangular base decorated with a recumbent crane to his right and a climbing tortoise to his left. His beard and the folds of his robes are highlighted with blue lines. 10 ¼ in. (26.3 cm.) high, box Provenance Acquired in Singapore, 8 January 1975
