A RARE DUTCH GOLD SNUFF-BOX BY JEAN SAINT (1698-1769), MARKED, AMSTERDAM, 1739 cartouche-shaped box, the slightly raised matted gold cover boldly chased and embossed with a scene depicting Hagar at the Well, within polished reeded c-scrolls, foliage and shells, raised incorporated thumbpiece, the polished gold sides engraved on the front 'Mellis', an eagle above, the base chased with geometric quatrefoil pattern; hinged red leather case 2½ in.
