A RARE SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING
A RARE SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING Set with a cushion-shaped sapphire, flanked by circular-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum, ring size 5½ Accompanied by report no. 85577 dated 13 April 2016 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the approximately 15.00 carat sapphire is of Burma (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating and the colour of this sapphire may also be called 'royal blue' based on SSEF reference standards; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the sapphire possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. It exhibits a remarkable size and weight combined with a saturated blue colour and a very fine putiry. Its colour is further pronounced by its well-proportioned cutting styles, resulting in vivid blue hues due to multiple internal reflections. The small inclusions found by microscopic examination and the analysed properties are consistent with those found in sapphires from the classical mines in Burma (Myanmar). Its saturated blue colour, poetically also referred to as 'royal blue', is due to a combination of well-balanced trace elements in the gemstone, which are typical and characteristic for the finest sapphires of Mogok, Burma. A natural sapphire from Burma of this size and quality is rare and exceptional US$380,000-650,000
