Beschreibung:

A ‘REALGAR’ IMITATION GLASS BRUSH POT, QING DYNASTY Katalognummer: CA0918-021 The tapered body rising from a flat base, the glass of rich fiery orange-red tone. China 18th – very early 19th century 'Realgar' glass is assumed to have been developed at the Imperial glassworks during the Kangxi period (1662-1722), when production was under the directorship of Kilian Stumpf and his fellow Jesuits, who set up the glassworks for the Emperor in 1696. Plain realgar glass items such as the present brush pot were made in large numbers throughout the 18th century and a large proportion of them were apparently produced at the court to be distributed as gifts. By the mid-Qing period, carved realgar, instead of plain realgar, began to take fashion among the glassworks and many fine examples were produced with this style of decoration. Shape: Tapered cylindric form Weight: 352 grams Dimensions: Height 11,3 cm Condition: Perfect condition with only minimal wear, especially to the foot Provenance: United Kingdom private collection Auction result comparison: COLLECTIONS. Sotheby’s, 02 MAY 2017, LONDON, lot 74. (for a similar brush pot) 清代仿雄黃料筆筒 錐形仿雄黃玻璃胎 中國,18世紀末期至19世紀初期 品質完善 英國私人收藏 Schätzpreis 估價: € 400 Startpreis 起拍價: € 200
