POSSIBLY BY JEAN-JOSEPH DE SAINT GERMAIN, CIRCA 1715, THE BRACKET AND THE LION AND SHELL MOUNTS TO SIDES 19TH CENTURY
A REGENCE ORMOLU AND BRASS-INLAID EBONY BRACKET CLOCK POSSIBLY BY JEAN-JOSEPH DE SAINT GERMAIN, CIRCA 1715, THE BRACKET AND THE LION AND SHELL MOUNTS TO SIDES 19TH CENTURY The white enamel Roman and Arabic dial signed 'ET.NE BAILLON A PARIS', with pierced and chased ormolu hands, the movement with rectangular plates with cut corners and joined by five back-pinned pillars, with repeat signature to the back plate, the movement with twin barrels, verge escapement with silk suspension and calibrated countwheel strike on bell surmounted by a pierced trellis panel beneath a c-scroll cartouche with guilloche and surmounted by a winged putti sitting on a cloudburst, the whole flanked by flower-enriched rocaille c-scrolls and above a pierced floral trellis with central female mask, flanked by foliage and further c-scrolls, the sides with lion's mask and shell mounts, on stylised scroll feet, all supported on a pierced ormolu bracket, profusely chased with rocaille centering a rooster and flowers supporting scrolls to each side supporting entwined dragons, with remains of British antique dealer's association label to reverse of both clock and bracket, bearing spurious ' C couronné poinçon marks 57 in. high (145 cm.) high, overall
