Lanota, Portsmouth to centre within concentric scale annotated in barometric inches with the usual observations to circumference and glazed cast brass bezel, the rounded base with further marquetry rosette, 97cm (38.25ins) high. Provenance: Private collection, Hampshire (ref. B180); purchased at Netherhampton Salerooms, Shaftsbury 11th November 2011 (lot 192) for £210 hammer. B. Lanota is recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS AND RETAILERS 1660-1900 as working in Portsmouth circa 1800-20.
