A rosewood quarter striking mantel clock, circa 1900, the eight-day two train movement 'ting-tang' striking the quarters on a pair of gongs and striking the hour on the larger of the two, the backplate stamped W&H, Sch for Winterhalter and Hoffmeyer and numbered 2 to lower margin, the brass break-arch dial with matted centre within applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with cruciform half hour markers and Arabic five minutes to outer track, the angles with scroll cast spandrels beneath arch with regulation dial flanked by conforming mounts, the lancet-shaped case with foliate scroll inlaid decoration above dial and shaped brass side handles within line borders, on moulded skirt base with conforming scroll marquetry to front and brass bracket feet, 35.5cm (14ins) high.
