Arthur Cleveland Coxe (born Mendlam, New Jersey, May 10, 1818 - died July 20, 1896). He was an Episcopal bishop and a writer. Ordained on September 25, 1842 at St. John's Church in Hartford, Conn, where he became rector until 1854. In April of 1865 he was consecrated a bishop. Mrs. Samuel (Jarvis) Colt was the eldest daughter of Rev. William Jarvis of Middletow, Conn. It appears that Mrs. Colt and Bishop Coxe were friends. Together with a letter from the Wadsworth Atheneum discussing this history.
