Reeve & Co. Date: 1867 Description: 100 hand-colored lithograph plates by and after W.H. Fitch, interleaved with descriptive letterpress. (4to) 31x24 cm (12¼x9½") period green morocco, decoratively bordered in blind, spine gilt, all edges gilt. First Edition. A striking series of colored plates. Many of the species illustrated are of cool-climate orchids. A continuation of Sir William Jackson Hooker's A Century of Orchidaceous Plants, published by Reeve in 1846. Great Flower Books p. 49; Nissen BBI 87. Sold for the benefit of the Friends of Honolulu Botanical Gardens. Lot Amendments Condition: Rubbed, front cover detached; occasional light foxing; plates overall clean and bright; internally near fine. Item number: 270680
