A SÈVRES NAVETTE-SHAPED STAND ( plateau de sauciere ) from the Service Arabesque ordered by Louis XVI, the centre painted en grisaille with a classical lady holding a basket of flowers and lying on a mound beside a lion on a pale-turquoise ground within a gilt-edged navette-shaped panel enclosed by bands of tailing vine and either end with stylised fluted half-pateræ and foliage scrolls, the blue-ground border with panels painted with foliage-scrolls, ears of corn and winged putti-masks between yellow and pink fretwork, the rim enriched in gilding (broken across and restored, slight flake to rim), blue interlaced L marks enclosing date letters gg for 1784, painter's mark for Nöel , incised 30 34cm. wide
