A Shinshinto Slung Sword ( Tachi ) in Mounts ( Ito maki Tachi Koshirae ) Late Edo period (19th century), signed Seki zenjo ke Chikanori saku and dated Ansei roku nen ni gatsu no hi (1859) Configuration shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune, torii-zori and chu-gissaki ; forging pattern nashiji with a suguha tempered edge and suguha tip; tang unshortened, narrow and tapering with horizontal file marks and one mekugi-ana Ito maki tachi koshirae comprising a lacquer scabbard decorated with gold lacquer family crests of mallow leaves on a nashiji ground with shakudo hardware carved with vines and applied with gilt crests, the top of the scabbard and the hilt wrapped with silk over brocade; the tsuba, fuchi-gashira and menuki decorated to match the scabbard hardware 29¼in. (73.6cm.) long
