A SILK AND METAL-THREAD BROCADE PANEL MADE FOR MUZAFFAR AL-DIN SHAH (1853-1907) BOKHARA, CENTRAL ASIA, DATED AH 1312/1894-95 AD Of almost square form, the purple silk satin ground woven in metal thread with staggered rows of boteh motifs, with one gently arched central rectangular cartouche giving the name of Muzaffar al-Din Shah and two further calligraphic cartouches, with red silk lining and gold cord piping around the edges, composed of three panels, some splits to silk 61¼ x 63¼in. (155.7 x 160.4cm.)
