A Silver Model of a Cockatoo on a lacquer hanging perch Meiji period (circa 1900), signed Shomin [Unno Shomin (1844-1915)] and with kakihan (cursive monogram) The cockatoo realistically cast in silver, the eye finished in shakudo within a ring of gilt, the feet parcel-gilt and the talons finished in shakudo ; the perch wood, lacquered in roiro and mura-nashiji and applied with silver mounts cast with scrolling foliage, with orange silk tassels and suspension cord Cockatoo 10½in. (26.8cm.) long; stand 14 1/8in. (35.8cm.) high With wood box inscribed on the exterior of the cover Jungin tsurigake omu (Silver hanging parrot) and with paper label affixed to the interior Einen no koro o oboshimesare Tenno heika gokashi kunai daijin Watanabe Chiaki (Presented on behalf of the Emperor by Watanabe Chiaki, minister of the Imperial Household for longtime service to the country) and Teishitsu gigeiin Unno Shomin saku (Made by Imperial craftsman Unno Shomin)
