A SILVER SIX PIECE SILVER TEA AND COFFEE SERVICE, maker's mark of Gorham, the kettle, stand and lamp 1880; the remainder 1899, comprising tea kettle, stand and lamp, teapot, square necked coffee pot, two handled covered sugar bowl, cream jug and tab handled waste bowl, each rounded cube form, on rim foot, underside of each engraved in script G. W. Gail the lower body flat chased with arcade enclosed stylized anthemion, above with chased and engraved frieze of briar rose on matted and sawtooth ground, baseketweave rim above demi lune and stylized lotus band, the pots with foliate vine handle and spout, the hinged, facet hammer finish, raised cover topped by fluted cone finial, the coffee pot neck with facet hammer finish and chased with leaf sprig, the tea kettle with fixed overhead handle, the rectangular stand on four briar rose decorated bracket feet, basketweave band above, issuing two part foliate multi scroll supports, with plain burner-- tea kettle on stand over handle 13in. (33cm.) high, gross weight 148oz. (6)
