16/17th century, France A very fine Limoges enamel plaque depicting St. Vitonus, Patron Saint against the plague / black death, hence the dragon that symbolizes that evil. The two plague sufferers with a rattle (legal prescription in the Middle Ages) call for his help at 'night and dawn' (starry sky). 13,5 x 9,5 cm (the enamel plaque) or 18,5 x 14 cm (including the frame)
