Octagonal, rifled, steel barrel with patent breech, front and rear sights and top flat stamped "KITTREDGE & FOLSOM". Unmarked back action, percussion lock plate with rounded hammer engraved with foliage. Double set triggers. Plain walnut halfstock with checkered wrist and carved cheek piece on left side of buttstock. Plain German silver furniture, including patchbox, small pierced sideplate around lock retaining screw and a buck bedding inlayed on the cheek piece. Original hickory ramrod. Good condition. Barrel and lock retain a mostly dark brown patina with some scattered dark spots and a few areas of light pitting. German silver mounts, unpolished. Front tang of trigger guard is cracked at screw. Barrel key escutcheon on right side is loose. Action functions well. Ramrod is missing tip. Stock has a crack beneath the hammer and another small crack from the breech tot he lock retaining screw. Stock retains an old finish with scattered light marks from use and one small filled area on right side of forend.
