A square piano by Ganer, London, 1779 The mahogany case cross-banded in satinwood and with chevron inlaid stringing. The frame stand with square tapered legs veneered en suite, leather banded castors and brass paterae. The cross-banded keywell profusely inlaid with foliage and flowers, and with multiple inlaid stringing. The nameboard bearing the inscription: Christopher Ganer Londini Fecit 1779. No. 47 Broad Street Soho. The five octave keyboard FF–f3 with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals. English single action with over-dampers. Width 153cm, depth 52cm, case height including lid 21cm.
